Investigative Body Conditioning Scoring

This 2-hour in-depth course is designed for law enforcement, animal control officers, veterinarians, and cruelty investigators who handle cases involving animal neglect and starvation. It provides detailed training on recognizing the physical signs of malnutrition, assigning accurate Body Condition Scores (BCS) for dogs and cats, and documenting findings for use in legal proceedings. Officers will learn to interpret the stages of starvation, identify key forensic indicators, and properly photograph and record BCS as evidence. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certification providing additional qualifications for courtroom testimony. This training strengthens the credibility and effectiveness of cruelty investigations by combining veterinary science with legal application.
